1. Silicon Nitride Hybrid Bearings:

 

With over 20 years of production, these bearings are frequently employed in high-speed applications, such as machine tool spindles. They operate with reduced start-up torque and exhibit equal or longer fatigue life compared to steel bearings. However, it's essential to analyze load capacities, as they have a 30% reduced static load rating.

 

1. Zirconia (ZrO2):

 

Increasingly popular, Zirconia-based bearings excel in environments with water and acids. While their density is closer to that of steel, they still offer a 20% reduction in weight. Though their fatigue life may be lower than that of steel, they provide excellent fracture toughness.

 

1. Silicon Carbide (SiC):

 

The hardest ceramic bearing material, Silicon Carbide, is often used in hybrid bearings. It offers superior corrosion resistance and is suitable for exposure to strong acids, with an impressively high operating temperature limit of 1,600 degrees Celsius.
